Opportunities for home energy storage
1. Promotion and speed up of household photovoltaic products
At present, the household photovoltaic penetration rate in Europe is relatively high. In Germany, for example, 1,131 MW was newly installed in 2020 alone, covering 151,700 households.
The United States is also gradually promoting. In 2019, the new installed capacity of household photovoltaic in the United States is 2.8GW, of which California is more than 1GW, and other regions are also accelerating.
China's new 10.1GW of household PHOTOVOLTAIC in 2020, accounting for 21% of the total newly installed capacity of household pv in 2020, nearly doubling the increase of 5.3GW in 2019. Especially in the background of the total cancellation of photovoltaic subsidies, China still gives household photovoltaic subsidies of 0.03 yuan / KWh this year.
2. Increased demand for electricity generated by electric vehicle promotion

3. Driven by inclusive economic benefits
Once the cost of electricity expenditure increases, then how to reduce the cost of electricity will become a consideration for more and more families.
If the idle roof is assembled with photovoltaic for self-use, and household energy storage is used at night or peak filling, then the power expenditure of the whole family will be greatly reduced, and at the same time, the "photovoltaic + energy storage" surplus power online, and even additional economic income can be obtained from selling electricity. In this case, if financing instruments are introduced, costs can be further reduced.
Especially in China, "household pv + energy storage" is becoming an important channel for farmers to increase their income.
4. Requirements for power stability
The power stability requirement is not obvious in China, because there are powerful thermal power involved in frequency modulation.
In the United States, such as grid is vulnerable, home energy storage demand is strong, especially in California fires and Texas blizzard last year typical natural disasters, but also to accelerate the popularity of the family energy storage, this is why California household photovoltaic is more common (more than 1GW) last year, and this is just the beginning.
